NFL Allows Clubs Blockchain Sponsorship with Some Restrictions
The US National Football League (NFL) has allowed teams to seek sponsorships in the blockchain industry, with some restrictions on cryptocurrencies, CNBC has learned.
The organization banned last year clubs from entering into advertising contracts and promoting any goods and services related to technology and digital assets.
According to a memo CNBC has had access to, the NFL has said it has made the decision to allow “advertising relationships without undue risk from the regulator or brand” after it completed its evaluation of the technology.
The updated rules eliminate stadium advertising and keep restrictions on certain assets, including fan tokens. According to the document:
“Clubs remain prohibited from directly promoting cryptocurrencies.”
