Cboe Files New Applications to List Bitcoin and Ethereum Options

Cboe Exchange filed an amendment to regulators to request the listing of options for Bitcoin and Ether exchange-traded funds in two filings on August 28, one for Bitcoin and one for Ether options.

The exchange’s goal is to list options linked to ETFs for BTC and ETH issued by various asset managers, including Fidelity, 21Shares, Invesco, VanEck, Grayscale, Bitwise, BlackRock’s iShares, and Valkyrie, according to the submitted documents.

The proposed rule change would include the spot cryptocurrency ETFs under the same category as commodities-based ETFs such as Goldman Sachs Physical Gold ETF and iShares Silver Trust, labeled as “securities deemed appropriate for options trading” in the exhibits attached to the BTC and ETH options filings.
