Google Updates Policy and Requires Crypto Ads to Register with FCA

Google has announced updates to its advertising policy for cryptocurrencies, tightening requirements for advertisers who want to promote crypto products and services in the UK.

The new rules will now mandate that crypto exchanges and software wallet providers must register with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) before advertising on Google’s platform.

Although these types of services are subject to the FCA’s rigorous registration process, advertisers can still promote hardware wallets without FCA approval, as long as the devices are only used for storing private keys and not for trading or exchanging services.

Moreover, all advertisers must be certified by Google and comply with local regulations in their target markets. The new policy, which will take effect on January 15, will apply to all accounts advertising financial products related to cryptocurrency, globally.
