MicroStrategy Buys Another 5,000 Bitcoins
MicroStrategy yesterday announced that it had purchased an additional 5,262 Bitcoins for approximately $561 million, according to a post by co-founder and executive chairman Michael Saylor on X. The average price paid for these new BTC was $106,662 per Bitcoin.
Overall, MicroStrategy now holds 444,262 BTC, with a current value of over $40 billion. The company has spent a total of $27.7 billion on the Bitcoin it owns, Saylor added.
In October, MicroStrategy revealed their plans to raise $42 billion in capital to support future acquisitions of Bitcoin, as part of their treasury reserve strategy. As of December 15, the company reported having about $7.65 billion worth of shares still available for sale through their planned $21 billion equity offering, as well as $21 billion in fixed-income securities.
This is the seventh consecutive week that MicroStrategy has announced they are acquiring more Bitcoin. Last week, the company purchased 15,350 BTC.
