Tether Launches USDT on Lightning Network

Tether’s recent move aims to directly integrate USDT stablecoin with Bitcoin’s infrastructure. This will enable faster and more efficient transactions through the Lightning Network, a technology built on top of Bitcoin’s layer.

The world’s largest stablecoin issuer hopes to expand beyond traditional blockchain networks through this integration, which was announced at a conference in El Salvador on January 30.

This move has the potential to revolutionize remittances, payments, and everyday transactions by offering practical solutions that are both speedy and reliable.

Tether’s CEO Paolo Ardoino emphasized the importance of real-world financial applications in this initiative, while Lightning Labs’ CEO Elizabeth Stark highlighted the widespread impact, stating that millions of people will now be able to use the secure and open Bitcoin network to transfer dollars globally.
