Thailand Approves USDC’s and USDT’s Listing on Exchanges

Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has added Tether’s USDT and Circle’s USDC to its approved cryptocurrency list. These stablecoins join Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, and Stellar as tokens utilized in the Bank of Thailand’s settlement system.

Following a public consultation in February, where the majority of respondents supported adding USDT and USDC, the new regulations will come into effect on March 16. This change will allow exchanges to incorporate these stablecoins into trading pairs.

Stablecoins have seen increasing popularity, particularly in developing areas such as Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America, where they offer an alternative to traditional banking systems.
