Instagram to Add Support for NFTs
Meta will launch a pilot project to integrate non-fungible tokens (NFTs) into the Instagram social network.
According to CoinDesk, Meta (formerly known as Facebook) allegedly plans to add support for NFTs released on Ethereum, Polygon, Solana and Flow to Instagram. However, it is still unknown whether the platform will work with all these networks at the first stage.
A limited group of US-based users will participate in the pilot project.
Meta intends to integrate Instagram with popular digital wallets like MetaMask. According to the announcement, the platform will not charge users a fee for placing and exchanging NFTs.
In January, the Financial Times reported the corporation plans to integrate NFTs into Facebook and Instagram, and is also working on a prototype platform that allows issuing these digital assets.
