Quentin Tarantino Demands Miramax’s NFT Lawsuit Be Dismissed
Movie director Quentin Tarantino has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles demanding the film studio Miramax’s lawsuit regarding the NFT collection based on the film “Pulp Fiction” be dismissed, Law360 has reported.
According to Tarantino, Miramax’s claim “ignores the clear language” set out in their agreements. According to the latter, the director has the right to release printed materials related to the picture, including publishing scripts, creating books or comics and other interactive publications.
Lawyer Brian Friedman, who represents Tarantino, has noted the main content of the non-fungible tokens consists of “uncensored first handwritten film scripts.”
He has said:
“A film script is an original copyrighted work that precedes the film, and the exclusive rights to the script, including elements such as dialogue, characters, plot, and scene descriptions, belong to the scriptwriter.”
According to the petition, Miramax’s copyright extends to elements of the film that are not part of the script.
