Coinbase CEO Believes SEC Went on a Crusade Against Crypto Industry

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has expressed his opinion in an interview with CNBC that the US Congress, CFTC and other federal bodies have come to a consensus on the need for clear regulations of the crypto industry, despite the SEC’s different approach.

Armstrong commented that SEC Chairman Gensler is taking “a lonely crusade” against digital assets, but it may eliminate the lack of clarity surrounding the legality of the industry.

The Commission sent an investigation notice to Coinbase in March, regarding the listing procedure and its products, to which Coinbase prepared to “resolutely defend itself” in April, noting that the company may suffer reputational damage due to the proceedings.
