Binance Wants to Develop its Business in the UK
Binance’s Strategy Director Patrick Hillmann has expressed at the Financial Times conference that the US has been in a “confused situation” in regards to the regulation of the crypto market, especially with recent actions taken by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) targeting Coinbase for alleged violations of securities laws.
Hillmann has added that Binance will do “everything possible” to start official operations in the UK, but did not confirm the re-application for a license.
Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao has previously announced plans to file a registration application with the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in order to become a fully regulated firm, as well as potentially creating a separate subsidiary, similar to Binance.US.
The company hopes to build relationships with UK regulators in order to have better access to the US market.
