Decentralized Social Network App Damus Will Be Removed from App Store

The representatives of the decentralized social media network Damus have stated that Apple will be removing their app from the App Store due to it not conforming to the platform’s requirements.

This news was reported after the company had updated the app to clearly state that digital content was not unlockable when users tipped.

Even after this, the application will still be removed, leading to the project’s representatives to prepare to launch an appeal against the misapplication of the technical manual.

The removal of Damus’ app comes after Apple had warned in mid-June that its content monetization feature was not allowed.

This feature, called zaps, allegedly enabled users to earn Satoshi through viewing posts. This was accomplished through the Bitcoin Lightning Network, a micropayment network.

The project’s removal prompted some well-known figures in the crypto community, such as former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Block’s head, to come to its defense.

Both criticized Apple, with the latter saying that the app was removed for having the ability to tip around the world without requiring bank accounts, payment cards, or any kind of government approval.
