Optimism Distributes $26.9M to 31,870 Addresses

The Optimism Collective DAO has distributed 19.4 million OP tokens, with a value of $26.9 million, to 31,870 active addresses on their second-level Ethereum network (OP Mainnet).

To ensure security, project representatives urged caution as there was no designated page to receive tokens from the third airdrop, and advised using the OP contract address (0x4200000000000000000000000000000000000042).

The distribution of tokens was automatically done for addresses with delegated “voting power” between January 20 and July 20, 2023, according to the developers.

This second airdrop aims to promote participation in governance and usage of the network, similar to the first distribution.

Rewards were based on the number of OP tokens and the duration of their delegation (minimum of 18,000 OP tokens to be eligible).

For example, a user who delegated 180 OP tokens for 100 days would be whitelisted as a recipient. Voting activity during the designated period was also a factor in determining reward calculations.
