Ava Labs Fires 12% of its Workforce to Reallocate Resources

The team behind the Avalanche blockchain, Ava Labs, has recently announced that it has laid off 12% of its employees in order to better allocate its resources.

This news was confirmed by the company’s founder and CEO, Emin Gün Sirer, on November 7 after multiple former employees shared their layoff experiences on the social media platform, X (formerly Twitter).

According to Gün Sirer, this reduction in force was necessary in order to allow the company to focus on its growth and the development of the Avalanche ecosystem.

He also acknowledged that navigating bear markets can be challenging, but emphasized that Ava Labs is in a good position with enough resources to continue its operations.

LinkedIn data reveals that Ava Labs currently has 335 employees, indicating that around 40 people may have been affected by the layoffs. Ava Labs’ vice president of growth and strategy, Garrison Yang, hinted that a significant number of the layoffs came from their marketing team.

One of the former marketing team members, Zach Manafort, shared his layoff experience on X on October 6.
