Mt. Gox Could Have Paid Some Creditors Twice

Multiple reports on Reddit indicate that some creditors of the defunct crypto exchange Mt. Gox have received settlement funds twice.

A Reddit user, u/rlycreativename, shared the contents of an email they allegedly received from the Mt. Gox Rehabilitation Trustee, acknowledging the error due to a system issue that led to the inadvertent double payment.

The email emphasized that recipients are not authorized to keep the second transfer and are legally obligated to return the duplicated amount to the Rehabilitation Trustee.

Other Reddit users confirmed receiving double payments or similar emails, with u/lukhaz noting, “I’ve just got an email from Mt.Gox requesting a refund of a duplicate transfer.”

Some users humorously speculated that the double payment might be a belated Christmas present, as shared by u/CaptainValor in a reply.
