Vitalik Buterin Makes Proposal to Increase Gas Limit By 33%
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has proposed a modest increase in the gas limit to potentially improve network efficiency during a Reddit ask-me-anything organized by the Ethereum Foundation’s research team.
Buterin noted that the gas limit has not been increased in nearly three years, which is the longest time in the protocol’s history.
He suggested a potential increase to around 40 million, which would be a 33% increase from the current limit of 30 million, taking into account the network’s growth and adoption since its launch in 2015.
The gas limit determines the maximum amount of fees needed to execute transactions or smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain.
