Hacker Steals $790,000 Owners of NFT Collection Rare Bears

Last March 16, as a result of a phishing attack on the Discord of the NFT project Rare Bears, an unknown hacker gained access to 179 tokens. The damage amounted to 286 ETH (about $790,000).

Representatives of the project have reported Discord communities were compromised. They have recommended not clicking on links, not connecting a wallet and blocking incoming messages until the situation is corrected.

After an audit by a specialist under the nickname pandez, the project returned to normal operation. The details of the attack will be made public soon.

After hacking the Discord project, the hacker took on the role of an official community moderator. He posted a phishing link that allowed users to purchase 1,000 rare NFTs from the collection for 0.1 ETH ($280).
