Investments in Blockchain Games Reach $2.5 Billion in Q1

In January-March 2022, the volume of investments in blockchain games amounted to $2.5 billion, according to the DappRadar and Blockchain Game Alliance report.

The largest deals were the investment rounds Animoca Brands ($359 million), Yuga Labs ($450 million) and Polygon ($450 million).

Last month, the owners of 1.22 million unique wallets interacted with smart contracts of blockchain games, which is equivalent to 52% of all activity in the blockchain space. During the year, the figure increased by 2,000%. The leader in interest was the blockchain game Splinterlands.

Interest in the metaverse after the hype caused by the rebranding of Facebook has declined. During the quarter, trading volume in this segment decreased by 12%, to $430 million. The average price of virtual land in Decentraland and The Sandbox decreased by 40%, while trading volumes decreased by 20% and 60%, respectively.
