Google Trends: Internet Users Believe Bitcoin is About to Die (Again)
The number of search queries about the death of Bitcoin has returned to its maximum levels amid the recent collapse in the price the asset.
According to Google Trends, for the week ending June 18, the query Bitcoin is dead scored 93 points, which is just one point less than the maximum recorded in December 2017.
Leading countries are Canada, Singapore and Australia. They were outdone by the much larger populations of the United States and Nigeria.
The price of BTC fell below $23,000 on June 13. At the same time, crypto lending platform Celsius Network suspended withdrawals, exchanges and transfers between accounts “due to extreme market conditions.”
This was followed by reports of a possible insolvency of the hedge fund Three Arrows Capital. The company co-founder Su Zhu did not directly confirm the rumors, but stated they were “solving problems.”
