US Congressmen Want to Include Cryptos in Cybersecurity Law
Senators Cynthia Lummis and Marsha Blackburn have drafted amendments to the Cybersecurity Act of 2015 and have proposed to include cryptocurrency, which has recently become more commonly used by hackers and other criminals.
Lummis has been urging the US Congress to legalize the cryptocurrency industry since last year. Now she has initiated amendments to data protection laws to give law enforcement the power to track the movement of funds in digital currencies and block suspicious transfers.
If the Senate supports the updated version of the bill, US-based companies would be able to turn to authorities for help if they encounter cyber threats.
Law enforcement will be able to provide assistance to companies affected by hacking attacks.
