OFAC Accuses Tornado Cash of Helping Fund North Korea’s Nuclear Program

The OFAC has updated sanctions on crypto mixer Tornado Cash, citing its role in funding North Korea’s nuclear program.

According to the agency, the service provided malicious cyber activities, the income from which allowed supporting North Korea’s program to create weapons of mass destruction.

In addition, the OFAC has clarified who could potentially be sanctioned due to their connection with Tornado Cash. These are founders, developers, DAO members or users of Tornado Cash, as well as other persons supporting the service.

To date, the agency has not announced additional restrictions on specific individuals or entities.
