FTX Former CEO Rejects Informal Invitation to Speak Before US Congress

Sam Bankman-Fried, former CEO of crypto exchange FTX, has declined a direct response to an invitation to speak at a House Finance Committee hearing.

Committee chair Maxine Waters invited Bankman-Fried on December 2 to participate in the December 13 meeting.

He wrote:

“We appreciate your sincerity in the discussions about what happened with FTX. Your willingness to speak to the public will help the company’s clients, investors and others.”

The invitation is not a formal requirement to testify before the committee.

In response, the founder of the exchange stated he would appear on Capitol Hill when he had finished “studying and reviewing what happened.”
