London-based Company Aztec Completes $100 Million Funding Round

Aztec Network, a startup based in London, has completed a $100 million Series B funding round.

According to the press release, the fundraising was led by venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. Other participants include A_Capital, King River Capital, HashKey Capital, Fenbushi Capital, Variant, SV Angel and Alumni Ventures.

The company will reportedly use the funds to expand its team from 40 to 80 people and develop an encrypted architecture for using blockchains without disclosing user-identifying information.

The company co-founder has commented:

“At a high level, Aztec is an encrypted version of Ethereum. Usually everything is public on Ethereum, but we make it encrypted. This path has taken us many years.”
