Bad Weather in US Brings Down BTC Hashrate

The hashrate of BTC fell from 229 EH/s to 156 EH/s or by about 32% on December 24 against the background of the shutdown of several large mining enterprises in the United States.

The CNN has reported that strong winds and snowfall have damaged power lines in some regions over the holiday period and that the drop in temperature has caused at least 22 deaths.

Mining firm Core Scientific had warned ahead of the storm that it would be involved in “several power outages to help stabilize the grid.”

The company reported on the production of 37.7 BTC for December 23. The next day, its production fell to only 30 BTC.
