Trading Platform Bitzlato Reportedly Exchanged Over $1B in Crime-related Assets

According to the Europol, crypto exchange platform Bitzlato converted criminal assets worth about €1 billion.

The agency has said that transactions were carried out in Bitcoins, Dash, Litecoin, as well as USD and Russian rubles.

The Europol has also announced the arrest of the CEO, CFO and CMO of Bitzlato in Spain and two other senior platform leaders in Cyprus and the United States.

Law enforcement officers searched houses in Spain, Cyprus and Portugal, and disabled the company’s digital infrastructure in France.

As a result of these operations, they have confiscated €18 million in cryptocurrencies, vehicles and electronics.
