Gary Gensler Says Crypto Regulation is a Top Priority for the SEC

Gary Gensler, chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, has said that crypto assets and other emerging technologies are on the regulator’s 2023 priority list.

He has explained:

“The Examination Department will review broker-dealers and RIAs that use new financial technologies or apply new methods, including technology and online solutions.”

The department will focus on the study of the compliance of firms working with digital assets with appropriate standards of protection in the preparation of recommendations and investment advice.

In addition, the SEC officials will also work on assessing the frequency with which companies review their compliance, disclosure and risk management practices.
