Hackers Steal $300K in Ethereum Through Phishing Site of Ethereum Conference in Denver
Some attackers have created a fake website for the popular annual Ethereum conference in Denver and stolen more than $300,000 in ETH through it.
According to Blockfence, the company that discovered the phishing scheme, scammers have gained access to more than 2,800 user wallets over the past six months.
The organizers of ETHDenver also posted a warning on Twitter about the malicious site:
“Be aware that there is a fake ETHDenver website that asks you to connect your wallet. Go-ETHDenver is not us.”
Blockfence CEO Omri Lahav has clarified that the site offered to connect the MetaMask wallet. After the user approved the transaction, the malware stole all the funds from the address.
