CFTC Allows CBOE to Trade Leveraged Crypto Futures

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has approved CBOE Clear Digital’s application to provide trading in futures contracts on Bitcoin and Ethereum on a margin basis.

Registration with the CFTC allows CBOE Digital Exchange, the parent company of CBOE Clear Digital, to act as a designated contract market.

Commissioner Christie Goldsmith Romero expressed her approval of the filing, noting the associated risk mitigation measures and its contrast to FTX’s proposal for an individual market structure without intermediaries.

Romero has championed for the integration of digital assets into the regulated space, advocating for oversight, accountability, transparency, and risk management.
