Ethereum Developers Pre-build the Deneb Update Package
Ethereum developers have discussed the details of the upcoming Deneb consensus level update, slated for inclusion in the Dencun hard fork.
Specifically, they have reviewed proposals to improve the network such as EIP-7044 – proposed by developer Lodestar and already included in the Deneb specs – which makes sure signed validator outputs are valid forever; EIP-7045 – proposed by Ethereum Foundation researcher Danny Ryan and still open to discussion – which increases security by extending the attestation slot sliding window from one to two epochs; and EIP-4788 – proposed by Ethereum Foundation researcher Alex Stokes – which simplifies communication with dApps developers by revealing chain state information to them inside the EVM.
Mikhail Kalinin did introduce EIP-6988 in the meeting, which changes the logic for selecting a validator as a block proposer.
However, Stokes suggested that its consideration should be postponed, as the update is not yet ready for implementation.
Moreover, Dancrad Feist from the Ethereum Foundation recommended increasing the maximum number of binary data arrays (BLOBs) per block from 4 to 6, for which the customer teams agreed to test the option on the Devnet 6 testnet and make a final decision in
