Hackers Break Into Uniswap Creator’s Twitter Account
Hayden Adams, the creator of DEX Uniswap, had his Twitter account taken over by attackers on June 3.
Through this account, they made a post with a link to a fraudulent website registered in Russia in order to urge UniswapX users to confirm their eligibility to “UNI gift tokens.”
This post was deleted, and although further phishing attempts were made, Adams eventually recovered their account after nine hours.
This incident isn’t the first of its kind to occur in the cryptocurrency world; in December 2022, unknown persons hacked the Twitter account of Kevin O’Leary, a star of the Shark Tank television show, to promote a fake Bitcoin airdrop. In early 2023, Robinhood’s social media profile was also taken over, promoting the fraudulent RBH token on the BNB Chain.
Moreover, Twitter accounts of Dante Disparte, the director of strategy at Circle, and of CTO OpenAI Mira Murati were hacked in June in order to spread fake coin giveaways, while the Aptos blockchain was attacked in July, with the perpetrators posting links to its bogus website.
