Bitstamp Will Suspend its Staking Services in US
Bitstamp has announced that it will be ending its staking program for US users come September 25. This closure was caused by unfavorable regulations from the United States.
Rewards and the principal amount of the staked assets will be credited back to users’ Bitstamp accounts following the suspension.
The process may take several days, though this is subject to the network’s condition.
Despite this change, all other Bitstamp services will remain in operation. Previously, the Kraken platform faced scrutiny from the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for its staking activities.
These claims led to a program closure and a $30 million penalty payment. Similarly, Coinbase had to suspend its staking services in several US states following a lawsuit from the SEC alleging an unregistered offering of securities.
