Hackers Steal $860,000 From Mark Cuban’s Crypto Wallet

One of Mark Cuban’s cryptocurrency wallet was emptied of over $860,000 worth of tokens and NFTs after a successful phishing attack, as reported by blockchain data outlet DL News.

The thief got away with $555,000 in Lido Finance’s staked ether (stETH) and $175,000 in USD Coin (USDC) from the wallet, as well as stakes in tokens like Ethereum Name Service, Polygon, SuperRare, and more.

The criminal is currently in the process of consolidating the stolen funds. Twitter user WazzCrypto first tipped off what happened.

Cuban stated to DL News that it was a phishing attack, and he had taken the bait after downloading a fake version of MetaMask.

He commented “Someone got me for 5 eth”, suggesting the extent of the damage was unknown at that point.

Though it may seem all was lost, security intelligence firm Arkham Intelligence revealed how Cuban was able to save $2.5 million worth of USDC on Polygon by transferring it to Coinbase before the hacker could.
