UpBit Halts Aptos Withdrawals

According to several user reports, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in South Korea, UpBit, has temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals of Aptos (APT) due to an issue with its system.

The error has resulted in a scam token being credited as equivalent to legitimate Aptos tokens, leading to a spike in price and subsequent crash.

The issue was first reported by a user on Definalist’s X account and seems to have originated from a fraudulent website, ClaimAPTGift.com, that was distributing the scam token to nearly 400,000 Aptos wallets.

The error has affected the trading pair with the highest volume on UpBit in the last 24 hours, according to CoinGecko.

UpBit has issued a statement acknowledging the problem and has temporarily halted deposits and withdrawals while they fix the issue.
