Uniswap Introduces Fee for Token Swaps

Starting on October 17, the decentralized cryptocurrency exchange Uniswap will introduce a 0.15% fee for trading cryptocurrencies on its web app and wallet.

The affected tokens include ETH, USDC, WETH, USDT, DAI, WBTC, agEUR, GUSD, LUSD, EUROC, and XSGD, as announced by Uniswap on its website on Monday.

Founder Hayden Adams clarified that this new fee is different from the Uniswap Protocol fee, which is determined by the governance of the UNI token.

In addition to the liquidity pool fees of 0.3%, the protocol fee is expected to increase from 0% after a governance vote.

This new token fee is likely to generate around $1 million per day at Uniswap’s current trading volumes. The specific pairs listed above account for approximately $580 million in daily trading volume, resulting in approximately $870,000 in swap fees, according to data from Flipside.
