Vitalik Buterin Says He Has Not Sold Own ETH
On October 17, PeckShield analysts observed a transfer of 14.93 million USDC from the vitalik.eth wallet, linked to Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, to Gemini.
Many believed that Buterin had sold a portion of his assets, but he clarified the situation in Warpcast, stating that any articles claiming he sold ETH were actually donations to charities or non-profits.
In June, Buterin and Polygon CEO Sandeep Nailwal pledged $100 million to the Kanro Foundation for COVID-19 research.
Recent on-chain data shows that Buterin made a transfer to the organization’s contract a few days prior.
Additionally, Buterin deposited 600 ETH (worth around $1 million at the time) to Coinbase and closed a position of 251,000 RAI on MakerDAO before withdrawing 1,000 ETH (~$1.67 million) the day before the USDC transfer.
