Zcash’s Project Celebrates Seventh Anniversary

October 28, 2023 marked the seven-year anniversary of the launch of Zcash (ZEC), a privacy-focused cryptocurrency.

The year of its mainnet launch in 2016 was marked by high volatility, with the coin reaching a price of 2600 BTC for 1 ZEC (equivalent to over $1.8 million at the time’s exchange rate).

On Saturday, the asset’s price settled at $27, showing a 1.8% increase in 24 hours according to CoinGecko.

Zcash currently holds the 149th position by market capitalization, with a total value of $220.3 million.

He highlighted achievements such as identifying and fixing a critical vulnerability in 2018 and community growth. In 2021, the ECC presented the Zcash roadmap for 2025, which they described as “aggressive yet achievable.”

It featured three main products: transitioning to the Proof-of-Stake consensus algorithm, interoperability, and the official ECC wallet.
