TON Blockchain Sets World Record for Transaction Speed
On October 31, the public testing of The Open Network blockchain achieved a new world record of 104,715 transactions per second.
This was accomplished by the project team renting 256 servers from Alibaba Cloud and launching a separate TON Blockchain network.
The network was put under pressure by a special smart contract known as the “bomb” which constantly reproduced and sent transactions.
Within 10 minutes, the network split into 512 shardchains and processed an impressive 90,000-110,000 TPS.
In just 22 minutes, over 107 million transactions were processed, with a peak TPS of 111,498. This impressive performance was confirmed by independent auditor CertiK.
It surpasses all previous confirmed results of other blockchains and even the maximum speed of centralized payment systems such as Visa and Mastercard.
The developers of TON believe that with enough validators, the network has the potential to handle millions of transactions per second.
