Hackers Steal $100M from Poloniex
Poloniex was attacked by an unknown individual on November 10. Initial reports from Arkham Intelligence indicate that the attacker caused approximately $124.5 million in losses in digital assets.
PeckShield analysts alerted the exchange and its CEO Justin Sun about suspicious withdrawals from one of their hot wallets.
Meanwhile, the Poloniex support account in X reported that their maintenance address was disabled.
After 40 minutes, Sun confirmed the incident and announced an investigation. He assured users that Poloniex is financially stable and will take full responsibility for compensating the stolen funds.
To recover the lost assets, Poloniex will seek assistance from other platforms.
Sun even offered the hacker a 5% reward if they return all the stolen funds, giving them a week to consider before involving law enforcement agencies.
