Cosmos Rejects an Initiative Aimed at Eliminating Inflation

The proposal to reduce the minimum inflation of the native ATOM token from 7% to 0% did not receive support from the Cosmos Hub ecosystem community. 48.6% of the participants voted against Proposition 868, while 25.1% voted in favor and 25.9% abstained from voting.

Among the validators who voted against the proposal were Everstake, Cosmostation, Chorus One, Allnodes, Stake.fish, Swish Stting, Forbole, Provalidator, Keplr, and others.

Those who supported the initiative included Game, Informal, Stakecito, P2P, Polkachu, Pryzm, IrisNet, and Leap.

Proposition 868, proposed by a member of Cosmos Stakelab, aimed to alleviate inflationary pressures on ATOM, especially in situations where a significant amount of the coins are bonded.

The proposed changes were expected to increase the annual profitability of ATOM staking.

However, some members of the community raised concerns about potential negative consequences, such as impacts on the security of the Cosmos Hub.
