Ethereum Layer 2 Chain Blast Launches its Mainnet

Blast, a Layer 2 network built on the Ethereum blockchain, officially launched its mainnet on Thursday.

The platform, created by Tieshun Roquerre who also founded the NFT marketplace Blur, offers a native yield model for both ether and stablecoins with a promised interest rate of 4% for the former and 5% for the latter.

Prior to the mainnet launch, over 180,000 community members and a total value locked (TVL) of over $2.3 billion were already on board, according to the platform’s website.

As the launch approached, users noticed an unofficial bridge to the platform, drawing similarities to the situation before Coinbase launched its Layer 2 Base in August 2023.
