OKX Delists Tether for EU Users
OKX has stopped offering support for trading pairs involving Tether’s USDT stablecoin to users in the European Union and the European Economic Area (EEA). This means that users can now only trade USDT against other stablecoins like USDC or the euro, but not against other cryptocurrencies.
A trader on Reddit first noticed this change and reached out to customer support, who confirmed that it was due to regulatory compliance and security concerns.
However, an OKX spokesperson clarified that the decision was based on their focus on increasing the liquidity of euro-denominated pairs in the region.
The exchange also clarified that EEA-based users can still deposit, withdraw, buy, sell, and convert USDT through OTC trading. Furthermore, OKX has recently introduced various forms of euro onramps and pairs to cater to their EEA users.
