Trump Says He Will Accept Crypto in His Campaign
The presumptive Republican nominee for the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump, has stated that his campaign will now be accepting donations in the form of various cryptocurrencies.
As outlined on his website, Trump’s campaign will be accepting currencies such as Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, Dogecoin, and Shiba Inu through the Coinbase Commerce product.
Trump’s fundraising page has been updated to allow federally permissible donors to contribute through joint fundraising committees using cryptocurrency.
This move is being touted as a groundbreaking step as it is the first time a major party’s presidential nominee has accepted cryptocurrency donations.
With the use of cryptocurrency becoming a more important topic in the 2020 election, Trump is positioning himself as a stronger advocate for digital currencies compared to his opponent, President Joe Biden.
