Hong Kong Could Allow Staking for Spot Ethereum ETFs

Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission is considering allowing the staking of Ether in spot Ethereum ETFs in the region.

Talks have been held between the SFC and crypto ETF firms in the city, with the issuers making plans to stake Ether if the approval is granted.

Three of the first spot cryptocurrency ETFs in Asia, managed by China Asset Management, Harvest Global and Bosera/HashKey, were launched on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on April 30.

However, the ETFs have not met expectations and have only generated minimal flows for both Bitcoin and Ether, in contrast to the $154 million worth of inflows into US spot Bitcoin ETFs on Wednesday.
