VanEck Files Form 8-A with SEC
VanEck, an investment manager, recently filed form 8-A for its spot Ethereum exchange-traded fund (ETF) with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), bringing the ETF closer to being available for live trading.
Based on the timing of VanEck’s 8-A filing for its Bitcoin ETF, senior Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas predicts that spot Ethereum ETFs could potentially be offered for trading on July 2, 2024.
In June, Balchunas had previously estimated an early July launch for Ethereum ETFs due to the lack of commentary from SEC staff on the ETF applicants’ S-1 filings.
This suggests that the SEC may not have major concerns with the ETF offerings and could potentially speed up the listing process.
However, SEC Chair Gary Gensler has indicated that it could still take several months before Ethereum ETFs are officially listed on stock exchanges, possibly not until September 2024.
