Phishing App Angel Drainer is Shut Down

According to a report from blockchain security firm Match Systems on July 16, infamous crypto phishing app Angel Drainer has been shut down by its creators after they were potentially exposed.

The app is believed to have played a role in multiple phishing scams resulting in over $25 million in cryptocurrency losses. It is speculated that the developers of Angel Drainer received a portion of the stolen funds from scammers in exchange for providing the app.

On February 5, another blockchain security firm, Blockaid, reported that Angel Drainer had been used to steal millions from 35,000 individuals.

On July 16, at approximately 4 pm UTC, Match Systems announced on X that they had made headway in identifying the developers of Angel Drainer. They requested that victims come forward with any information to aid in the investigation.
