Bitstamp Will Start Today Repayments to Mt. Gox Creditors

Customers of Mt. Gox will finally begin receiving payouts through Bitstamp on Thursday after a 10-year wait following the exchange’s collapse due to a hacking incident.

Bitstamp announced that it has received funds in BTC, ETH, and BCH from the Mt. Gox trustees. However, customers in the United Kingdom will not be included in the first round of payouts.

This news follows reports from several Mt. Gox creditors who have already received assets via Kraken.

The trustees responsible for managing the Mt. Gox assets have also begun transferring assets to multiple crypto exchanges this month, with users expected to be able to reclaim their funds in the coming weeks.

At its peak, Mt. Gox was the world’s largest crypto exchange, processing more than 70% of all bitcoin transactions.
