University of Wyoming Unveils a Bitcoin Research Institute

The University of Wyoming is preparing to launch the UW Bitcoin Research Institute in August. Led by Bitcoin activist and Associate Professor Bradley Rettler, the institute’s objective is to conduct rigorous and peer-reviewed studies on Bitcoin.

Rettler announced the institute’s establishment on July 28, emphasizing the need for more reputable publications to educate the public on Bitcoin’s functions and implications.

Rettler pointed out the lack of quality research in the current Bitcoin landscape, citing a 2018 study led by University of Hawaii Professor Camilo Mora.

The study claimed that emissions from Bitcoin could potentially contribute to a 3.6° Fahrenheit (2 degrees Celsius) increase in global warming by 2048.
