France’s Regulator Starts Accepting Crypto Asset Service Providers Applications
The AMF, France’s financial markets regulator, is now accepting applications for crypto asset service providers (CASPs), six months before the implementation of Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulations.
Starting on December 30, all firms providing ten different crypto-related services will need to obtain CASP authorization, which will enforce consistent guidelines for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism, cybersecurity, and other aspects of their operations.
These regulations will replace France’s current PACTE regime (Action Plan for Business Growth and Transformation).
However, firms that were not previously regulated and those with digital asset service provider authorization under PACTE will have until July 1, 2026, to transition to CASP authorization. There are over 100 such firms affected by this transition.
