NYSE Withdraws Application to List Options on Bitcoin ETFs

The New York Stock Exchange, the operator of the stock market, has pulled its request to list and trade options based on the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF and the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust. This was stated in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The SEC extended its review period multiple times after posting the NYSE proposal for public comment in February 2024, and eventually started formal proceedings in April.

However, before a final decision was made, the exchange withdrew its proposal.

The CBOE, where several Bitcoin ETFs are currently traded, also withdrew its application but has since resubmitted with a more detailed proposal, as seen in documents discovered by Bloomberg’s James Seyffart. The SEC has not made any public comments or given feedback on the matter.
