SEC Puts Off Decision on Ethereum ETF Options

The latest filing made on October 11th by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has resulted in another delay in the decision on whether or not to allow an exchange to list options linked to spot Ethereum ETFs.

The SEC has extended the deadline for the ruling from October 19th to December 3rd, citing a need for more time to consider a proposed rule change by Cboe Exchange that would enable them to offer options tied to several popular spot ETH funds.

These include the iShares Ethereum Trust ETF by BlackRock, the Fidelity Ethereum Fund, and the Grayscale Ethereum Trust and Mini Ethereum Trust.

This follows a similar move by the SEC in September to postpone a request by Nasdaq’s electronic exchange to offer options on iShares Ethereum Trust.

However, the SEC did approve the listing of options for BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) in September, which focuses on Bitcoin.
