Trump Appoints Former PayPal COO David Sacks as Crypto Adviser
David Sacks, former operating chief of PayPal and current podcast host, has been chosen by President-elect Donald Trump as his primary policy advisor for artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency. In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump announced that Sacks will be the “White House A.I. & Crypto Czar” and will focus on areas essential to America’s future competitiveness.
In addition to developing a legal framework for the crypto industry to thrive in the US, Sacks’ role will also include protecting online speech and addressing concerns about bias and censorship in the tech industry. He will also lead the Presidential Council of Advisors for Science and Technology.
Sacks is an early executive of PayPal and the co-founder of the business social network Yammer, which was acquired by Microsoft for $1.2 billion. He is currently known for his podcast, All In, and his venture capital firm, Craft Ventures.
Trump’s decision to appoint Sacks reflects his administration’s commitment to rewarding influential business leaders who supported his campaign. In fact, Sacks held a fundraiser for Trump earlier this year, which raised $12 million.
